Bon Voyage

Doug and I have traveled more this summer than we have in a long time but until now it hasn't been at the same time. We finally got away on a trip we planned almost 200 days ago, together. We took a New England cruise starting in New York and ending in Quebec City, Canada. It was a fabulous journey and one we will cherish.
Since I have fallen down on my blogging I have just posted the pictures from each day, the date, and the location. (Some have a few comments, you know I just can't keep from adding my two cents worth.)

September 25, 2018-Des Moines to New York

Rain greeted us in New York, not a promising start but it was clear by the time we set sail that evening.

September 26, 2018-Newort, Rhode Island
Since the ship was so large it wasn't possible for us to pull all the way into the port. When this happens we have to tender into port by way of the ship's lifeboats. It can get a little rocky.

We road a Hop On, Hop Off bus when in Newport. Doug hopped off and walked the shore along all the huge mansions and beautiful churches. I did the entire bus route, shopped a little, and then returned to the ship to rest and enjoy the other people who had stayed on board.

September 27, 2018-Boston, Massachusetts

Boston has rich history and lots of walking to see it. Doug did the sightseeing for both of us while in Boston, I stayed on the ship and enjoyed reading on our balcony and watching the harbor. The loading of semi trailers onto huge ships like the Yang Ming held my attention for a long time. What is funny about the Yang Ming, I watched her pull into a Canadian port 3 days later.

September 28, 2018-Portland, Maine

Portland, Maine was one of my favorite ports, mainly because we had Zoe, a small tour company's guide and driver. She is a professional chef, ex-lobster fisherman, mom, and widow. Her life turned upside down when her husband was killed in a boating accident. That is when she and her small kids started taking over his lobster business. Now as a part-time guide she makes sure her passengers see all there was to see.

My first time eating a lobster roll. I am not a seafood person but I ate half. Doug said it was great.
