On Our Way to The Valley of the Sun

November 5 & 6, 2018
Carol came to Iowa to help her daughter get her new beauty salon, Timeless Beauty Company,  ready for an open house. I just happened to be free the week she decided to head home so that allowed me to hitch a ride with her back down to Arizona. Off to Apache Junction we go!
It was about noon by the time we said good-bye to our families, visited with Kathy, stopped at the bank, got gas, and decided which way was the quickest from Winterset to I-35. The day started out rainy but traffic wasn't horrible so we made it all the way to the southwest side of Oklahoma City before stopping for the night. It only took us 3 tries to find a hotel that we felt comfortable in, Comfort Suites. They do live up to their name, we had a nice, big, comfortable room with very welcoming beds. Sleep came fast so this old body woke up bright and early, 4:00. Why, oh why can't I sleep in now that I don't have to get up! So I am showered, dressed, woke Carol up(not on purpose) and now ready to have breakfast then head south. I can't wait to see what Park Place East is like with people in every park model and RVs parked in all the use-to-be empty spots. I have a feeling it will be a totally different place. I've heard the Canadians are a bit rowdy, we'll see. Just wait until the Iowa crowd moves in. LOL

November 7, 2018 Apache Junction, AZ

Carol and I hit Apache Junction about 9:30 last night. It wasn't terribly late but after hours on the road we were both pooped. So instead of unloading the car and opening up my park model I just crashed on Carol's hide-a-bed. I didn't sleep well because I kept thinking about turning on the water and electricity and getting started dusting and doing a few things to clean up the trailer a bit. So at 4:00 I tried to sneak out of Carol's and walk over to my spot with junk in hand. I made it one trip before I woke her up so we finished transferring my stuff, turning on the water and electricity and then making a nice cup of french vanilla coffee so we could sit on the carport and watch the sun come up. I was not prepared for a very chilly AZ morning, good thing I had on long sleeves. Luckily, as the day went on we enjoyed wonderful weather in the 80s. Today was pretty low key, we are both still so tired and not worth much. I did get a few chores completed around the park model and had time to enjoy sitting outside in the cool evening air.

November 8, 2018
Today has been a wonderful day to stay around the park model and do some of the chores that just hadn't been tackled yet. Carol and I had a late breakfast, stopped at Wal-Mart, washed her car and spent the rest of the day doing odd jobs, like painting the base of the patio table and washing the chairs, both jobs that just hadn't made it to the top of the to-do list. The weather has been so lovely that we just enjoyed sitting outside and saying hi to all the energetic walkers in the park. Everyone is so nice but that's what you get from Midwest people. There are tons of Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana people here, not to mention the Iowa gals. (Us)
I head back home to the cold tundra of Iowa tomorrow morning bright and early. 2 days is just not enough time to enjoy the warmth of the Valley of the Sun.
