WY and SD: Here We Come!

Hi Everyone,
This blog has one purpose: sharing the great adventures of retirement through my eyes. My blog name was taken from a saying that my husband has been using for the past month. I don't know where he first heard it so I can't give credit to the original thinker but whomever it was did a nice job putting retirement into a few words.

For my birthday, my 65th birthday, Doug, my hubby, gave me a trip to WY to spend time with my dear friend, Carol. She and I have been bus riding friends since we were in grade school and have somehow managed to remain the bestest of friends all these years. We also have three other lifelong friends who sometimes get to join us on little escapades, LaRue, Deanna, and Audrey. You may read of some of our getaways later.

So here Carol and I are on our first full day of our week long adventure, sitting in the hotel room waiting for the hotel water park to open. We have had breakfast and ready for splashing around before heading off to Spearfish, SD to see all the fun sights that
area has to offer.

Please enjoy the pictures and join us as we see what mischief we can find.
Packing days before was supposed to be a good idea and it would have been if I had stopped to think about how heavy the suitcase was when it was empty. So last minute I switched everything into my smaller, lighter, red bag that has been with me through lots of flights. Needless to say my clothes were a bit wrinkled.

The day before a trip is the longest day ever so to pass the time Gunar and I took to the great outdoors to relax in the hammock. Looking at the beautiful Iowa sky had me getting a bit worried about flying. Imaging streaking across all those empty spaces high above the ground always has me nervous.
Then the day arrived for the great take-off and look at the sky! I have never flown in such bumpy weather! Believe me I was very happy to touch the ground in Denver.

Once in Gillette, WY I was greeted by Carol and off we set for our hotel. Our first room wasn't ready so we enjoyed a bit of food at Armando's, they had an interesting menu. I say first room because we ended up staying in the third one offered. They somehow had us in a room with a king sized bed which just wouldn't do. They were very nice and found us a better room, finally.
Don't you think I should bring home a few for The Longhorns to play with.(Our neighbors have beautiful longhorn cattle.)

The celebration is beginning! Bring on Medicare, walkers, and adventure!
