Well, I have made it home after 9 days of traveling and enjoying warmer weather. I have gone form shorts and sandals to sweats and slippers in less than 24 hours. Carol and I have ended our adventure but there's always promises of more ahead. It is good to be home but it would take me 5 seconds to take off again.
Carol and I got very busy with paperwork and all the errands she had to do once she met with the sellers of her home on Monday. Add that with the time change and great food we enjoyed made us pooped by 8:00 at the end of each day. That explains why I have failed to add to this blog for the last 4 days. Too tired to type.
We survived our stay at Motel 6 in Apache Junction on Tuesday and Wednesday and then moved into her new home on Thursday morning. We were so lucky that the steaming hot weather that started the week turned into a lovely, cool breeze just in time to keep us from wilting away while emptying out the U-Haul and her storage unit. We did a great job getting things into her home and storage shed by ourselves. Well, that is until it came time to move her name rock and the china closet she had brought from home. Luckily, three men were visiting in the middle of the street just feet away and were more than happy to help their new neighbor. They made short work of the heavy loads and took time to visit to find out more about their new friend. (And they say women are nosy.)
Friday night we were so blessed to spend time with our friend Linda and her husband, Tom. Pizza from Papa Murphy's provided food for Carol's first dinner party. Yum! Too bad none of us thought to take pictures.
I fell in love with Carol's RV park. It's small, clean, with very friendly people. She is in a beautiful, safe place but I will miss having her in Iowa. We didn't do the sightseeing thing this time but that just means we can do some exploring next time. I'm counting on her to have all the fun spots scoped out.

Harley was our protector during our last Motel 6 stay. Not to say that it was bad but the holes between the floor and the door frame that lead outside were a bit scary. I really don't think the towel I pushed into them would have kept out snakes or scorpions if they had really wanted in. The air conditioning unit kept us entertained with it's musical clanging throughout the night but it kept us cool. I don't plan to ever, I mean, never ever, stay there again. |

Some of the good food we enjoyed included soup and salad from Souper Salad. Yummy salad buffet with lots and lots of trimmings and 3 different types of soup, tacos, ice cream, and other desserts. |

Beautiful cactus decorate the streets all over Apache Junction |

View from Carol's new home, palm trees are such an unusual sight to these Iowa eyes. |

High winds and the loose sandy soil mixed together to create a sand storm Thursday night, there was a thin layer of gritty dust on everything left outside. This is a view of Superstitious Mountain with the haze of sand in the air. Notice the empty spots in the RV park, many snowbirds have already left AZ before the heat overtakes them. |

This snowbird came home to a cold snowy Iowa spring. When is the next flight south? LOL |
