Carol and I are at it again, traveling down that long, winding road. This time the trip is bittersweet. She is moving back to Arizona as a year-round resident of The Grand Canyon State. I am lucky enough to be a stowaway to escape the cold, wintry days of our Iowa spring and to check out her new digs. We left this morning about 8:30 in a mixture of wind, snow, and cold. We are now tucked into our nice warm Motel 6 in a small town just 4 miles north of the Oklahoma border but it's no warmer with a promise of snow. We have enjoyed the sights of pumping oil wells, Oreo cows, interesting houses, and the back-sides of speeding semis all through rain, snow, hail, sleet, fog, and wind. If it weren't for the company of Harley, Carol's warm, lovable cat, and our never ending conversations the trip would have been much longer. Time flies when your mind isn't focused on the miles. It hasn't been a very productive picture day but we have high hopes of warm, sunny weather tomorrow with time to stop if we see something interesting.

Good-bye Iowa, Hello Missouri |

Kansas, flat as a table top. We drove through snow, rain, sunshine, and fog with the wind whipped us around like a rag doll. Good thing Carol is an excellent driver. |
